About the role

NEXUS designs and operates cloud platforms for enterprise — multi-account topologies, IaC modules, observability stacks, FinOps cadence, and the SRE program build that produces named SLOs in the SOW. We're hiring senior cloud architects (G8+) who have led platform engagements at enterprise scale and want to do it without the politics overhead of a Big 4.

You'll lead architecture engagements end-to-end — discovery, ADR authorship, build phase oversight, and the operating cadence that follows. Department-lead co-pilot on every engagement; founder oversight on G8+ engagements.

What you’ll do

Lead architecture engagements: account topology, IaC structure, identity model, observability stack
Author Architecture Decision Records that become the contract for delivery
Co-pilot embedded engineers on client sites; review IaC modules, deployment patterns, security posture
Run quarterly architectural reviews against client roadmaps and the FinOps cadence on each engagement
Contribute to NEXUS module library and reference-architecture catalog

What we look for

8+ years of cloud platform engineering, with 4+ years architecting at enterprise scale
Deep experience with at least two of AWS, Azure, GCP — production multi-account / multi-subscription
Production IaC (Terraform / Pulumi / CDK) with module library and policy-as-code (OPA / Checkov)
SRE / observability discipline: named SLOs, error budgets, OpenTelemetry instrumentation
Track record of regulated-industry delivery (FFIEC, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, FedRAMP)

Nice to have

Multi-cloud or hybrid deployment experience
Open-source contributions to Terraform modules, OpenTelemetry, or Kubernetes ecosystem
Experience leading teams and running engagement governance
